Repairing floors is often an option we recommend to our clients, as it is the most economical and eco-friendly solution. Flooring repairs can most often preserve and enhance the original cachet of a dwelling.

- Evaluating the feasibility
First, we determine details like the number of square feet. Next, we assess the benefits by looking at the existing surface and the work required. Then we recommend the possible options to the client and explain the result that can be expected. - Selecting the wood species and type of floors
The consultant will help you choose a hardwood species, the type of lathes, where to buy the products and good suppliers. - Preparing the area to be repaired
Work commences at this phase: we identify and remove certain floorboards to avoid a line effect and allow for a harmonious integration. We ensure the floor is level and the surface ready for new lathes. Then we install the new lathes. - Sanding and finishing the floor
We do the sanding and finishing of a floor according to what was agreed upon with the client.
Challenges and limitations
The combination of a carefully selected wood species, good sanding and the right product very often allows us to achieve a result in which the repaired area cannot be distinguished from the rest of the floor.
Nevertheless, such a result is not always possible and is one of the major challenges of repairing floors. Even if you select the right wood species and type of floors for your repairs, it could still result in a colour gap between the old and new floors. This is sometimes caused by the age of the floors or by the fact that even with the same wood species, each batch lot may vary in tint.
One solution would be to choose a finishing with a colouring that will result in an even-coloured floor.
